Male Female Duality
Painting includes as its center piece a copy of Pietro Longhi's painting "The Foyer" (1750). The top panels include gargoyle's from English Cathedrals and a reproduction of a watercolor from William Blake. The panels below include 12 century tarot cards, an excerpt from Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights. The remaining panels are based on photographs taken site seeing in Rome and Florence, done while taking a class with Carol Dupre at the Art League in Alexandria, VA.
This painting is a mood study based on a wonderful black and white photograph by Peter Damo [LensWork 79, 2008] entitled "Low Cloud Tree" a landscape in Flinders Ranges, Australia. His web site is http://peterdamo.com.
